This story I tell is about a man named Robert. His fate, and maybe others, are in your hands. So, make sure to be careful, for your actions have consequences.

Unseen is a choose your own adventure game made using the open-sourced game engine, Twine. I created this game to explore the feelings invoked by the uncanny valley. The mental state of fear/unsettling/eeriness, where people experience something that is both familiar, yet wrong.

I wanted to explore writing a narrative and putting it into a game format with the express purpose of creating these feelings in the player, similar to how games like Kentucky Route Zero do. This is achieved with the use of familiar uncanny tropes, such as dolls, doubles, and ghosts. Each story is also based on the works and lives of real poets of history that people may be familiar with (Robert Frost, Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson).
